Recognition Worth Celebrating
Microsoft Teams has once again been named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Unified Communications as a Service—for the 7th year in a row. Positioned highest for ability to execute and furthest for completeness of vision, this recognition highlights the innovations Teams has delivered over the past year. From redesigned chat and channels to AI-powered meeting agents, Teams continues to evolve as the platform that makes work simple, smart, and secure.
This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the trust of millions of users and the support of partners worldwide.
Copilot Gets Even Smarter
Copilot is becoming an even more powerful assistant inside Teams. Meeting recaps were just the beginning—now you can enjoy audio recaps, turning written summaries into dynamic audio you can listen to anytime. Whether commuting, walking between meetings, or just preferring to listen, audio recaps keep you connected without being tied to your screen.
Chat and Collaboration Updates
- File summaries in chat: Copilot can now summarize Word documents shared in Teams chats, so you get the key points instantly without opening the file. This works on desktop and mobile, respecting all security policies.
- Emoji shortcut upgrade: Adding emojis is faster and more intuitive. Just type : followed by the emoji name, and Teams will insert it. Improved search also makes finding custom emojis easier.
Meetings, Webinars, and Town Halls
- Audio recap now available: Choose from styles like Newscast, Executive, or Casual to hear meeting summaries in the way that suits you best.
- Smarter camera views: Multiple camera views and IntelliFrame are now supported in webinars and structured meetings, giving attendees a more engaging experience.
- Event Chat expansion: Town halls in GCC, GCCH, and DoD environments now support secure, threaded chats for richer engagement during and after events.
- Join Town Halls and Webinars from Teams Rooms on Android: Teams Rooms on Android can now join Town Halls and webinars as attendees, with the same features available on the desktop app.
- Front-of-room view control: Presenters in Teams Rooms on Windows (available now) or Android (coming soon) can control the front-of-room display, switching between attendee and presenter views without affecting participants.
- Enhanced production experience: Hosts of Town halls in Teams Rooms on Windows can now manage what attendees see with greater precision—choosing which presenters appear on stage and adjusting layouts, backgrounds, and name tags for a polished, professional broadcast.
Teams Phone Enhancements
- Intelligent recap in Calls app: AI-generated summaries and tasks are now available directly in the Calls app, helping you catch up quickly.
- Teams Phone Mobile with AT&T: Users can make and receive calls with one number across mobile and Teams endpoints.
- Better feedback on devices: Teams-certified phones now offer guided prompts for easier feedback sharing.
- Improved call transfers: New options like “Consult first” make transfers smoother and reduce errors.
Workplace and Teams Rooms
- Facilitator agent on Android: AI-generated notes and follow-ups keep meetings productive and on track.
- Cloud IntelliFrame: Smarter framing ensures remote participants can see expressions and gestures clearly.
- Dynamic video tiles: Room video tiles now resize automatically based on occupancy.
- Live caption translation: Choose from 40 languages for captions in Teams Rooms on Android, making hybrid meetings more inclusive.
- Simplified device settings: Admins can now enable voice and face recognition features more easily through a new interface, without needing PowerShell.
- People count with Cloud IntelliFrame: Occupancy data is now captured in Pro Management portal reports, helping IT teams plan and optimize meeting spaces.
- Recommended actions page: A new page in the Pro Management portal provides proactive recommendations, such as device updates or certification expirations, helping admins keep operations smooth and efficient.
