Every month, 25 million users benefit from Microsoft Power Apps, a top platform for building smart, high-performance applications. To show the true value of Power Apps Premium, Microsoft asked Forrester Consulting to conduct an independent study called the Total Economic Impact™ of Power Apps.
Forrester spoke with 13 organizations using Power Apps Premium and other Power Platform tools. They created a model organization with 30,000 employees, $10 billion in annual revenue, 200 professional developers, and 1,800 citizen developers. They tracked the adoption of Power Apps Premium from 22% of employees in the first year to 66% by the third year.
And that’s not all! Microsoft Copilot boosts productivity even more. Developers using Copilot in Power Apps have a 60% higher success rate, and 70% of Microsoft 365 users report increased productivity.
Power Apps helps businesses quickly adapt to changing needs. With its low-code platform, both professional and citizen developers can create and deploy apps fast. One energy company product owner said, “Power Apps allows for faster application development because end-users don’t waste time waiting for a high-code app to be developed or spend time on inefficient processes.”
Forrester found that productivity gains saved up to 250 hours per user annually, freeing up 12% of an employee’s time for new, productive work. One interviewee mentioned that tasks that used to take weeks and 10 full-time employees (FTEs) were reduced to just one hour with only two FTEs, thanks to Power Apps.
Low-code development promises faster results, but how much faster? Forrester found that professional developers cut their app development time by 50% with Power Apps Premium. For a company with 200 developers, this is like adding 100 extra developers!
This efficiency boost comes from using prebuilt templates, reusable components, and drag-and-drop features, along with traditional coding. Citizen developers can handle simpler tasks, letting professional developers focus on more complex projects. Before Power Platform, integrating various apps and services required extensive custom development. Now, it’s easier with interconnected, low-code tools.
Power Platform lets employees build solutions quickly within IT guidelines, improving productivity and reducing the need for unauthorized tools. It also connects to various data sources and integrates with existing systems, making it easier to move from legacy apps to modern solutions.
